Antique East Turkestan Khotan Wool Rug 6 X 9
Handmade wool rug from East Turkestan, early 20th century. Crafted with traditional asymmetric knots in wool pile on a cotton foundation. The abrashed rust-red field showcases a subtle bone "moon" medallion at center, framed by four open flower-defined squares at cardinal points. Polychrome pomegranate stems add richness throughout the design.
Multiple borders define the piece: an innermost T-fret reciprocal band, a decorative cloud head motif, and an outermost band of slanting colored strips. A distinctive example of authentic Khotan weaving tradition.
