How should I care for the rug?
Maintain your rug's pristine condition by vacuuming with suction only, avoiding beater bars that may damage delicate fibers. For spot cleaning, use a mild, clear detergent diluted with water, applying gently to affected areas. For stubborn or extensive stains, we recommend consulting our care specialists. Please submit photographs of the affected area to info@apadana.email, and our team will provide personalized guidance to preserve your investment.
How should I store the rug?
Store your rug in a cool, dry environment away from direct light. Always roll rather than fold your rug to preserve its structural integrity, as folding can compromise the fibers over time. For extended storage periods exceeding one season, employ mothballs to protect against insect damage.
Spotting
Address spills with immediate attention. It is essential to remove excess material as promptly as possible. Using a clean, white cloth, gently press down on the affected area, working from the outer edges toward the center. Blot carefully—do not rub or scrub.
Remove solid matter with a plastic spoon or butter knife, and blot liquid residue with absorbent towels before applying any cleaning solutions.
Always pre-test spotting solutions on a concealed area, such as the back of the rug. Should dye transfer to the cloth or if the rug's color changes in that location, discontinue use of the solution immediately and contact a professional conservator.
Do Not Over Wet
Exercise restraint when applying liquids to your rug. Excessive moisture can cause stains to spread and dyes to migrate. Employ cleaning solutions with discretion, as overuse of potent chemicals may compromise the integrity of your rug's fibers and exacerbate the issue. Approach stain treatment with patience and deliberation. Certain blemishes require extended care; investing time in proper treatment yields superior long-term results compared to accepting permanent damage. Thoroughly remove all cleaning agents and chemical residues. After applying any cleaning solution, carefully blot the area and follow with a damp cloth to ensure complete removal. Residual detergent accelerates soiling and diminishes the rug's appearance. Allow the treated area to dry completely. Prolonged dampness invites color bleeding and mildew formation, both of which can permanently alter your rug's beauty.
Spotting Solutions
1. Apply a modest quantity of cold water and gently blot with a clean, dry cloth.
2. Prepare a solution by combining 1/2 teaspoon of mild hand dishwashing detergent with one cup of cold water, ensuring the product contains no bleach or disinfectants.
3. Create a secondary solution using 1/3 cup of white distilled vinegar mixed with 2/3 cup of cold water.
4. Apply a small amount of clear rubbing alcohol to a soft cloth, using sparingly to preserve the integrity of your rug. Ensure adequate ventilation when working with volatile solvents such as rubbing alcohol.
