This exquisite antique Serapi rug, from the Northwest Persian highlands around 1890, features bold geometric designs and a sophisticated color palette typical of Heriz weavings. The centerpiece is a large hexagonal medallion in deep indigo and madder red, set against a vibrant terracotta field. The rug is bordered by a traditional "Samovar" design with a "leaf and calyx" motif. Hand-woven with spun wool and natural vegetable dyes, it displays beautiful "abrash" (color variation), adding depth and movement. Its elegant composition makes it a striking statement piece for any interior. This rug measures 9'6" x 12'.
